Ingredients
- 250g extra-firm tofu, pressed and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp agave nectar
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prep: Press the tofu for at least 15 minutes to remove excess water. Cut into 1-inch cubes. In a shallow bowl, combine nutritional yeast, oregano, garlic powder, and black pepper. Toss the tofu cubes in this mixture until evenly coated.
- Hob: Heat olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add the coated tofu in a single layer, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Oven (optional for extra crisp): For even crispier results, after pan-frying, spread the tofu on a baking sheet and bake at 200°C (390°F) for 5-7 minutes.
- Drizzle: In a small bowl, whisk together the agave nectar and lemon juice.
- Serve: Arrange the crispy tofu bites on a plate. Drizzle generously with the agave-lemon sauce. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
- Enjoy immediately as a satisfying and flavourful lunch!
