Ingredients
- 300g Flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 300g Broccoli florets, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tbsp Sesame oil
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce (or Tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tbsp Rice vinegar (unsweetened)
- 1 tbsp Fresh ginger, grated
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp Xanthan gum (optional, for thickening)
- 1 tbsp Toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp Spring onions, sliced
Instructions
- Prep: Thinly slice the beef, mince the garlic, and grate the ginger; whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, and half the garlic in a small bowl.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat on the hob.
- Add the broccoli florets and a splash of water; cover and steam for 3 minutes until vibrant green and tender-crisp, then remove from the pan and set aside.
- Wipe the pan dry, add the remaining tablespoon of sesame oil, and sear the beef slices in a single layer until browned (about 2 minutes per side).
- Add the remaining garlic to the beef and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and add the broccoli back into the pan, tossing everything together for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients.
- Serve immediately in bowls, garnished with toasted sesame seeds and sliced spring onions.
